My Two Fathers Are Better Than One

I had two Fathers.

No, this was not a situation where both of my fathers were lovers nor was I an adopted child to two men who wanted one of their own. One father was the one who taught me how to bait my own fishing pole, drive a manual-shift car, fire a shotgun into an open country field and hold my own when it came to self-defense. My other father had shed the importance of being sure I selected the right man to be in a relationship with. The right man to father my future children with and most importantly, how not to settle for one who did not display the actions of a real man, even though he was born with a penis and testicles between his legs. To a woman continuing to blossom and grow into her own, both fathers instilled great gems that I would be able to carry on throughout the rest of my life. They were my versions of true love!

Who are we to judge?

Yes, this is for you! People find ways to judge others and I will admit that at times, I found myself passing judgement but I quickly check myself because when I look down at my hands, they’re not clean.

Everyone has made a decision or even several of them within their lifetime and whatever the consequences have been, they had to go through it. But who are we to judge them for what they do? We are not the ones who may suffer or reap the benefits so why does it matter to us personally? You see it all the time and the sad part about it is that there have been moments where passing judgement has lead to deaths. You see someone dressed fly from head to toe and decked out in jewels, get robbed because someone thought from what they saw, the person had that type of money. Only to find out that the jewels were fake and the clothes were hand-me-downs but now, someone’s child is no longer here. We need to do better. There are bigger problems out in the sea and what someone has going on in their lives should be the least of our concerns.

My Trip to Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, TN

I’ve learned that with life being so short, sometimes you have to just be spontaneous and go!

No waiting around or pondering. No hesitation allowed. Just get up and go! I found myself bored and in an extreme need for mental cleansing. I always wanted to travel to different sites and view mother nature at her finest but never just pushed myself to do it. Well this particular morning, something came over me as I got into my car and headed towards Chattanooga, TN. After learning that it was only an hour and a half away from me, there was no excuse as to why I had not been sooner. I researched things to do in Chattanooga, TN and discovered Ruby Falls located in Lookout Mountain. My hun was at work so unfortunately we were not able to both experience this together but it made a good day trip for me. (more…)

“I wanna know what goes through a boy’s mind…”

I know I am not alone with this question. What are you thinking about while you go through the emotions of falling for someone? One thing that I have come to learn is that Men are truly from Mars and Women are from Venus! As a woman, I cannot expect my man to share the same ways of expressing his feelings as I do to him…he’s not a female and therefore, he might express them in a different type of way than I. For example, women can tell their man that they miss them 1-2 times within a day and a man may say it once..or he may just randomly call you and talk to you for a while. That could be his way of letting you know, he misses you. Just to be able to hear your voice, makes his day.

While searching for a particular quote yesterday, I came across this response from a guy named “VirginiaCountryBoy,” regarding a question I am sure, a girl asked. “I wanna know what goes through a boy’s mind when he’s falling for a girl.” I could have sat here and read this thing about five to six times, it was so amazing. Now, not all men may think like this but I can say, it may give some women comfort just having a general idea of what you go through. Take a look for yourself! (more…)

As a Mom…

This is going to step on a lot of toes first and foremost but you know my heart, if you know me as an if you take offense to anything that I am about to say, it was not intentional but it needs to be said.

I went to Walmart yesterday in which I had a small talk with the sales rep there about video games. We got into a discussion about us both raising our sons by ourselves and the fear with living here in GA (ATL), just how open the homosexuality is down here. She was informing me about how she took her son to the mall (North Pointe) and there were a few men walking about in stilettos, makeup glam to the T and skirts. Her son pointed them out as “Boy Girls,” and told her (he’s 7) that he likes girls and that what he saw wasn’t right.

Now, I do not bash anyone nor their sexual preference because what works for you, works for you and that’s your prerogative. I love all of my homosexual and bi-sexual friends all the same as I do my heterosexual friends. Where I do tense up and become a little more “Mama’Bearish” is when I am with my son. The lifestyle down in the A scared the shit out of me, I will admit, when I contemplated on moving down knowing I would be raising my son with no male figure in the household.

This type of environment is new to him, yet he has been around a lot of male figures when we lived in Connecticut, so I am confident in both life and God himself. As a mom raising a young boy into a young man, it is very vital that we keep positive male role models in their lives. That was another thing we spoke on. Dudes who knowingly gets involved with a woman who has a child or children and then does not want anything to do with them..but only the mother. No. I’ve heard of some say that it’s okay to just be into the mother at first and not the child or children. As a single mom, I come as a package because my son is my everything to me. Any man who understands would have to respect it because you cannot expect to be in a relationship with the mother and have nothing to do with the child. I will admit, not a lot of men can deal with a situation like that and tend to fall off after a month or two.

It takes a special type of guy to go through life with a woman and her child(ren). Those are the types of people we need. I was thankfully raised by my stepfather who I have seen more as my biological dad, from the age of like 4 months until he passed when I was 14 years old. This was the only man that I knew as my father and he never treated me any differently than his own child. So, that’s the type of relationship I would want for my son…someone who is there from the beginning until the end of time, who will look at him and treat him as if we both made him together. No one has time to sit around and try to convince the bios, to be there when they don’t want to. Sometimes it takes a real man to step up and be there even when the child isn’t his.

Welp folks, that’s my rant for this wonderful Wednesday! I wanted to share some insight on what women as a mom, think of from time to time.

Liebster Award!!

On February 25, 2016, I received my nomination for the Liebster Award!

If you are not familiar with the Liebster Award, it is an online recognition from one blogger to another. If you are nominated, as a new blogger, this would be a great way to not only network with other bloggers but build up your blog roll and help others become more familiar with your blog. The award is passed around and the idea is to answer random questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
Once completed,  you have to nominate more people to pass on the award!

I was nominated by Kelsey Todd who has no problem telling it like it is, especially when it comes to parenting! She definitely seems like the type of blogger you would need in your blogroll to balance between actual life experiences and make-believe. She will bring you back into reality. Don’t believe me? Take a look for yourself! Mumma TODD

So I was presented with a few questions in which I have answered below to share with the world..don’t judge me!

1) Other than blogging, do you have a hobby?

I also enjoy drawing from time to time. It’s definitely of a good paying quality but I don’t need the pressure.

2) Which would you prefer, kids or pets?
Kids! If I could have a child every year, I would be all for it!
3) You’re stuck on an island. You have two choices; blogging essentials or a friend. Which do you choose?

Hmm..the sad part is..every event I attend, I go with the thought of blogging about it. So if I was stuck on an Island, I would have to choose blogging essentials.
4) If you could choose an era to be born into, which would it be?

I think being born in the 80’s was a great choice for my mom…so I would stick to being an 80s baby!

5) What are your favourite kinds of blogs to read?

Anything that tugs at my heart strings. Anything realistic about relationships and sex. Hey, don’t judge me! I also like motivational blogs and things that encourage being your own boss.

6) If you could spend 1 hour with anyone in the world, from the past or present, who would it be?

I would like to talk to my deceased stepfather after his death…you know, as he is in spirit now. I want to find out if he approves of what I’ve done thus far and if he is happy about my life.
7) Who is your blogging inspiration/idol, if you have one?

I honestly don’t have one.
8) Favourite flavour milkshake?

9) Rain or Sun?

Rain…if I had a boyfriend, I would definitely conceive during the rain.

10) Where would you like to visit most in the world?

Somewhere tropical
11) Aliens visit earth and you can only ask them one question.  What is it?

Can you get a human pregnant or get pregnant by a human??

My Questions for those Nominated:

  1. What prompted you to start blogging?
  2. What was the last movie you watched, that made you cry?
  3. Do you prefer going out or staying inside after a long work week?
  4. What is your favorite post that you have written thus far?
  5. Do you think fish cry?
  6. If you could get away with performing one illegal act, what would it be and why?
  7. What is your favorite drink?
  8. What do you love most about where you live?
  9. Summer or Winter?
  10. Top 3 people you would invite to dinner, whether dead or alive?
  11. Name your dream destination

My nominations for the Liebster Award!!

How to nominate:

You will need to pass the torch on to 5-11 new bloggers who have under 3k followers.  If you have questions on passing the torch, check out the following page WordingWell on the Liebster Award
