I’ve learned that with life being so short, sometimes you have to just be spontaneous and go!
No waiting around or pondering. No hesitation allowed. Just get up and go! I found myself bored and in an extreme need for mental cleansing. I always wanted to travel to different sites and view mother nature at her finest but never just pushed myself to do it. Well this particular morning, something came over me as I got into my car and headed towards Chattanooga, TN. After learning that it was only an hour and a half away from me, there was no excuse as to why I had not been sooner. I researched things to do in Chattanooga, TN and discovered Ruby Falls located in Lookout Mountain. My hun was at work so unfortunately we were not able to both experience this together but it made a good day trip for me.
The ride there was pretty straight forward with little to no traffic but across the barriers, heading in the opposite direction, there was a halt. It did not become clear to me as to what the hold up was until I got further ahead and saw Georgia State Troopers in the middle of the highway in which now, I had to stop. Apparently there had been a crash on the other side of the road and one of the vehicle’s tires had made its way OVER the barrier and into the middle lane ahead of me. Strange but no one appeared to be hurt, so I cruised on by.
As I finally approached Chattanooga and exited the highway, the closer I got to my destination, more of the LookOut Mountain became visible to the point where I pulled over and snapped a photo….okay, several photos.
So once I finally made my way up (and, of course silly, I didn’t charge my phone all the way so I was not able to capture more photos from the top of the mountain! Why would I do such a thing?? -_- ), the view was breathtaking. This was my first time on top of any type of mountain and if I could have spent the entire day there, I would have.
After I made my way inside and purchased my ticket for the Ruby Falls tour (which was about a 5-10 minute wait), I decided to snap of photo of some history on the site.
Below, you will find photos from my visit but please make note in case you decide to visit this location, Doug Dover was my tour guide and he is the best they have!! His personality and the way he interacts with all of the guests, was phenomenal! When we go back, I will be sure to ask for him!
